Information for parents on car seats and booster seats as well as teen driver safety is found on the AAPs healthychildren.org website. The authoritative AAP Policy Statement on child passenger safety is on the AAP publications website.

Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine

A global multi-disciplinary professional organization dedicated to saving lives and eliminating road traffic injuries through scientific research, authoritative educational programs, and public policy recommendations. Their Annual Scientific Conference includes some CPS sessions.

Automotive Safety Program—Indiana University School of Medicine

This program is affiliated with Indiana University Health; it directs child passenger safety research, education, and training in the state of Indiana The program also operates the National Center for the Safe Transportation of Children with Special Healthcare Needs and maintains a database of CPS Technicians that have taken the Safe Travel for All Children course.

Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute

A nonprofit helmet advocacy program that explains the technology of helmets to consumers and promotes better helmets by working on improved standards.

The Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS) has compiled a list of the seat belt and child restraint laws for all the states in the United States.

Safe Kids (United States and Canada and Worldwide)

A non-profit organization dedicated to the preven­tion of unintentional childhood injuries. In the United States they have over 300 community coalitions which are involved in child passenger safety activities. In Canada they operate as Parachute.

Safety Restraint Coalition

For over 30 years, the Safety Restraint Coalition was a national non-profit organization with the mission of saving lives and reducing unintentional injuries related to motor vehicles. In addition, as the lead CPS agency for the state of Washington for many years, they expertly trained and mentored many of that state’s Child Passenger Safety Technicians.  They also provided a free recall list and 800-phone help line.  Though now officially retired, we recognize this pioneering organization for its many contributions to the child passenger safety field.

SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A.

A national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the correct, consistent use of child restraints and safety belts. The site has materials for parents and tools for technicians, such as the Technical Encyclopedia, a Pictorial Guide to identify child restraints, recall list, state laws, and federal regulations. Limited-access page (by subscription) offers the latest CR instructions, recall update service, etc.
